BLACK HEALTH FACTS
CLOSING THE GAP
The “health gap” in America is real, especially for communities of color that are disproportionately represented among the millions of under and uninsured Americans. Threats to community wellness are not just a threat to persons of color, but to all people. According to research by The Kaiser Foundation, there is an “information gap” among African Americans. Numerous public service programs designed to address this “information gap” have failed because the messages did not reach the intended audience. More specifically, many programs were developed without a synergistic and effective strategy. Corporate funded initiatives have also failed because they did not contain effective mechanisms to significantly reduce this “information gap.”
It is against this backdrop that Anderson Communications created The Health Information Network™ (HIN). “An integrated disease neutral communications platform that delivers vital health messages to large numbers of African American visitors, viewers, listeners and readers in media environments they interact with regularly.”
THE HEALTH INFORMATION NETWORK
The Health Information Network (HIN) is a national program that disseminates vital health information using a multi-media platform strategy including radio, TV, print,
events, social media and the Internet delivering health messages to millions of African Americans nationwide. This information empowers them to make positive decisions to improve their quality of life.
The HIN is designed to be a corporately funded initiative and includes positions for the sponsoring company’s product advertising that is attached to the health messages.
